Information

What are Eledae?

Eledae are shape-changing elemental beings which come from the realm of Naraka, a world parallel to many other worlds, including our own. They hold power which allows them to control one of an infinite list of elements, from things like fire and water, to things like music and colors; as well they hold the ability to change their appearance between six forms.

When an Eledae is first born, they only have access to two of their forms: Natural and Ultimate. Their other forms, they unlock over time by going through training to increase their power. With this said, it is highly unrecommended for a young Eledae to attempt entering their Ultimate form, as, per the name suggests, it is their most powerful form, and uses the most of their energy and power. Entering too early is very dangerous and can even result in death. Eledae unlock their other forms by learning new abilities. The more abilities an Eledae knows, the more powerful they become.

Eledae hold sentience and intelligence equal to, if not greater than, that of humans, and they age much the same as well, if just a bit slower. Eledae can develop all the same genetic disabilities as humans, from blindness, to dwarfism, to paralysis, and much more. As well, they have a few disabilities of their own, including but not limited to:

Void - The lack of an element, resulting in the inability to reach their full power (supposedly)

Wingless - The lack of wings, resulting in the inability to fly

Hornless - The lack of horns, resulting in the inability to protect oneself fully

Tailless - The lack of a tail, resulting in the inability to perform certain tasks

There are others as well, but those are the most significant.

Basics

Natural Form

The Natural form of an Eledae is just that, their natural form. It’s the form they are most often found in, though it is fairly weak when it comes to connecting to their element and using their abilities. They appear almost entirely human in this form, though can be easily mistaken as demons in our world due to their horns, wings, and tails. Not to mention, as well, their brightly colored eyes and pointed ears. They also have sharp nails which are black in color, and their teeth are sharp as well.

Eledae are typically fairly short, and more often darker-skinned than lighter. Their hair is always black or varying shades of dark gray. Their wings and tails are covered in a thin coat of velvety black fur and their horns are smooth and hold a slight shine to them.

**Albinism is a Divine Trait among Eledae, and results in silver to white hair/fur, pale eyes, and always light skin**

Beginner Form - Level 1

The Beginner form of an Eledae is simple and is even considered to require less energy and focus than their Natural form. It is no more than a spherical creature covered in the same velvety, black fur as their wings and tail. In this form, their hair is usually no more than a tuft of fur atop their head, and their facial features are comparable to that of a Jack-o-lantern, lighting up the same color as their eyes. They have no visible ears or nose in this form, and no limbs either, aside from their wings and tails. In this form, their connection to their element is much stronger than in their Natural form, increasing their elemental abilities greatly. Their height in this form ranges between 1 and 1½ feet.

Intermediate Form - Level 25

The Intermediate form of an Eledae is a little less simple than the Beginner form and is considered to require about as much energy and focus than their Natural form. It is still no more than a spherical creature covered in the same velvety, black fur as their wings and tail. In this form, their hair is usually no more than a tuft of fur atop their head, and their facial features are comparable to that of a Jack-o-lantern, lighting up the same color as their eyes. They have no visible ears or nose in this form, but unlike the Beginner form, the Intermediate form has four limbs, with a quadrupedal structure. They, of course, also have their wings and tails. In this form, their connection to their element is much stronger than in their Natural form, increasing their elemental abilities greatly. Their height in this form ranges between 1½ and 2 feet.

Advanced Form - Level 75

The Advanced form of an Eledae is a more complex form and is considered to require more energy and focus than their Natural form. It is a raptor-like creature covered in the same velvety, black fur as their wings and tail. In this form, their hair is longer than the previous forms and more like their Natural form, and their facial features are comparable to that of a Jack-o-lantern, lighting up the same color as their eyes. They have no visible ears or nose in this form, but unlike the previous forms, the Advanced form has four limbs in a more bipedal structure, with short arms and large legs. They, of course, also have their wings and tails, and they are very often hunched forward. In this form, their connection to their element is much stronger than in their Natural form, increasing their elemental abilities greatly. Their height in this form ranges between 2 and 2½ feet.

Mastery Form - Level 150

The Mastery form of an Eledae is a fairly complex form and is considered to require much more energy and focus than their Natural form. It is a much more humanoid creature covered in the same velvety, black fur as their wings and tail. In this form, their hair is longer than the previous forms and more like their Natural form, and their facial features are comparable to that of a Jack-o-lantern, lighting up the same color as their eyes. They have no visible ears or nose in this form, but unlike the previous forms, the Mastery form has four limbs in a completely bipedal structure, with arms and legs. They, of course, also have their wings and tails. In this form, their connection to their element is much stronger than in their Natural form, increasing their elemental abilities greatly. Their height in this form ranges between 2½ and 3 feet.

Ultimate Form - Level 250+

The Ultimate form of an Eledae is just that, their ultimate form. It is their strongest form and most powerful as well, and has the greatest connection to their element. There is no real standard to the appearance of their Ultimate form aside their basic features still being present. That being horns, wings, tails, fur, and eyes. Other than those basics, Ultimate forms vary widely from Eledae to Eledae. From dragon-like creatures to things that can’t even be compared to anything else. They are typically very large in this form, however there are some cases of there being very small Ultimate forms as well.

How to Level Up

To level up, you must create art of your Eledae a certain number of times; each piece of art counts for one level, so with the first art you create in order to make your Eledae official, you are already at level 1! Art is any form of media involving your Eledae, whether visual, literary, or otherwise. Drawing other peoples Eledae as well is very much encouraged! And just because you reach 250 pieces of art, does not mean you have to stop drawing your Eledae, they can continue to level up and become more and more powerful!

Horns

Eledae horns are always black in color and hold a slight shine to them. They are typically a fair size in ratios to the head, but can be any size, shape, and even come in any number. Eledae without horns are practically unspoken of and viewed as something undesirable, in the same, the smaller horns are, the less appealing they are in Eledae culture. Horn types can be mixed and matched to any degree, though are most commonly symmetrical and in even numbers.

Wings

Eledae wings are usually always bat-like, though can be feathered as well through an uncommon genetic mutation. The bat-like wings are covered in a velvety, black fur, whereas the feathered wings have soft, downy feathers, also black in color. Eledae with no wings are practically unspoken of, and often are culled at birth, lest they be saved. Those who survive are typically viewed as undesirable and are incapable of flight. In the same, smaller wings are less appealing in Eledae culture, and also make flying difficult or impossible depending on the size.

Tails

Eledae tails are usually long and thin, covered in a velvety, black fur. Some tails, however, have longer, silkier fur and appear fluffier than the typical tails. Eledae with no tails are practically unspoken of and often viewed as undesirable, in the same, the shorter a tail is, the less appealing it is in Eledae culture. When it comes to multiple tails, types and lengths can be mixed and matched to any degree, though are most commonly all the same.

Tail tips

Almost no two tail tips are alike with Eledae, and the tip of an Eledae’s tail is somewhat of a defining factor for them. The more complex or unique a tail tip is, the more desirable it is. Functional tail tips are most sought after of them all. When it comes to multiple tails, tips can be mixed and matched to any degree, but are most commonly all the same.

Shades

Eledae have strict color rules. Their fur and hair is always black in color or very dark grays. The lighter the gray is, the more rare it is. Albino Eledae are extremely rare, having silver and even white hair and fur. When it comes to eyes, however, the most common traits include very bright and vibrant colors. The darker and/or less saturated a color gets, the more rare it is. Eledae are incapable of having heterochromia, and when in their other forms, their mouth is always lit with the same color as their eyes.

Questions

What does it mean that they are "semi-open"?

Pretty much just means that, yes you can make them, yes they are free, but when it come to traits which are uncommon and higher, I've decided that you'll be required to draw a certain amount of gift art for other Eledae prior to making your own, which I have listed above.

Can I group up my gift art for earning traits and put all the Eledae in one image?

Yes, yes you may!

Does it matter what form I draw the Eledae in for gift art?

Whatever form you're comfortable drawing is fine, just make sure that the Eledae has actually reached the level you're drawing them in, and make sure that when it comes to drawing the Natural or Ultimate form, you check that you are drawing them correctly.

Can I draw the same Eledae multiple times and have it count as gift art?

As of right now- April 18th, 2015 -with the species just getting off the ground and there being so few of them, yes, yes you may draw the same one and have it count as another gift.

How does the gift art trait store work?

Draw your gifts, submit them to the Trait Store folder in the GhoulishGala gallery, and keep a number tracker in your artist comments section (ex: 2/5 gift art for divine trait). Once you have completed all your gifts, you may submit your Eledae to the group to wait for approval!

Can the eyes and mouth be any color? I only see red on the guide...

Heh, I don't have room to show every color of the rainbow. Long as it is a bright, vibrant color, you're fine. Once you start getting darker and less saturated, then you start getting less and less common.

Can we use horn styles/wing styles/tail tips which aren't shown on the guide?

Yes! The guide only gives a very limited number of examples. I tried to leave as much open to variety as I could, hence why the tail tips are characterized more by complexity aside from the common and divine choices.

Can we stack traits? Like for instance, have a forked tail tip that has a shape on each tip, or have dual horns that each have their own shape, making them asymmetrical?

YES! You can stack traits as much as you like! However, when making it, you’ll have to count for each trait you apply.

I’ve grown tired of/lost interest in/no longer want my Eledae, can I trade/sell them?
You may trade your Eledae, yes, and it will become the new owner’s responsibility to train them if they are not already fully trained. In the same, you may sell your Eledae, pricing by the amount, not quality, of art they have received/you have made of them: 10pts/$0.10 per art. The only exception to pricing is if you spent money on a YCH, in that case you may add half of the buying price to the price of your Eledae.

Can we draw an Eledae for a friend/have a friend draw our Eledae for us?
Yes and yes, however it will be the character owner’s responsibility to draw their Eledae for training.

How do we ‘train’ our Eledae?
By helping them learn new abilities, of course! Huh? How do they learn new abilities, you ask? Oh, well, you just follow this guide (coming soon) and following the instructions for each ability you want!

Do all Eledae really have to have dark skin?
Yes. Nix the albinos, all Eledae have dark skin. Do you have a problem with that?

What about mating?
Standard human process. Nothing out of the ordinary.

What about children?
Again, human standard, just with horns and tails and wings. Children can’t fly though, even with average-sized wings. They don’t learn to fly till about the equivalent of ten years old.

Can my Eledae have a broken horn/ripped wing/chopped tail?
Sure, I don’t see why not.

Can my Eledae be blind/deaf/anosmic/mute/paraplegic/etc.
All disabilities, and disorders,  are possible.

My two friends each have an Eledae, can I make one that is their child and take traits from each parent?
You’d still have to draw gift art for required traits, but yah, knock yourself out.

Can my Eledae be related to The Master or one of the Councilmen?
No, sorry...
